Back to walking again

Today was a test of whether my foot had recovered from it's stress fracture. It was beginning to feel better and so I decided it was time to give it a "test run" with the Ramblers on a 5 mile walk along the river Exe estuary. Despite my fears of breaking down and having to be helped back, these were unfounded and I felt fine.  I will now gradually build up my walking distances again and cycle whenever  possible so that I am fit again for my walk from Land's End in September. I had forgot how much I had missed being out in the countryside ( and the lunch afterwards)

Back on the road again!

It's been about 4 weeks now since I got back from Bath after my 100 mile walk from Crediton to Bath. On the way, towards the end I managed to fall backwards off a stile and twist my ankle. Days later when I got home I found my left foot had become very painful  because of a stress fracture in my foot. The only answer was complete rest which I tried to resist at first, but had to give in the end! At last I can put weight on my foot again so have decided to go out on my bike for a 15 mile ride tomorrow to get out of my couch potato mode. The weather promises to be fine but I am taking my life jacket just in case!!
